    Description

      Dear support,

We are facing an issue with the connection between Microsoft Excel and our MariaDB database using the MariaDB driver.

When trying to connect to the database in Microsoft Excel through Data -> Get data -> from other sources -> from ODBC, I select the DSN and get the databases shown, but not the list of tables (see attachment). Without seeing the tables, we are not able to use Power Query in Excel properly.

I've tested it with MariaDB ODBC driver 3.08 and 3.1.0 and both show no tables. When I do the same with the Mysql ODBC driver 8.0.15 I get the list of tables without problems.

I am niot sure if this is a bug in the mariadb driver, a compatibility issue or a misconfiguration from our side.

Could you sheed some light on this matter?

Thanks a lot for your support

Thank you for your bug report? What Office version do you use? Because I tried with the Excel I have, and tables list is showed there without problems. I have attached printscreen.
But actually unlikely excel version would help me. Could you please generate ODBC trace for your load data from MariaDB server. That would be more helpful

            Hi Lawrin,

Thanks for your quick answer. We are using Office 365 Pro Plus and I just tested it with the last version of the driver (3.0.1).

I am sending you the odbc trace. I actually wanted to do it yesterday but I didn't find how. I hope it helps us out to find the issue.

            Regards

I had a similar issue in SSIS and had to add

            SET sql_mode = 'ORACLE';

to the Initial Statements on the DSN.

It is not clear for me why this bug report is closed. Could this bug be solved? I have version mariadb-10.4.8-winx64 and I still have this bug.

The mentioned MariaDB ODBC driver updates solved the issue for us a couple of months ago.

            giordano,

I have version mariadb-10.4.8-winx64 and I still have this bug.

The MariaDB Server version doesn't matter. The MariaDB Connector/ODBC version is what matters. If you're still seeing this bug, then you need to upgrade MariaDB Connector/ODBC.

MariaDB Connector/ODBC 3.1.4 is the latest release available at the moment:

Sorry, I meant mariadb-connector-odbc-3.1.3-win64. I solved it using mysql-connector-odbc-8.0.17-winx64. I will try the newest version of mariadb-connector-odbc.
