    Description

When attempting to install MariaDB-server-10.9.7-1.el7.centos.x86_64 via YUM on CentOS 7 I get the following error:

      Error: Package: MariaDB-server-10.9.7-1.el7.centos.x86_64 (mariadb-main)
                 Requires: pv

I found the pv website and came across this message:

Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and its derivatives has been dropped as of July 2023. Neither pre-packaged binary RPMs nor integrated RPM spec files will be provided.

            sysprg,

The installation issue should only affect CentOS 7 (and maybe old SLES), as for newer versions the dependency works as a recommendation, not as a requirement; but still, if the support is dropped and the package isn't provided, it doesn't make much sense to even recommend it, and certainly not require it.

It is unclear however whether they are going to support RockyLinux and Alma. And also, if they are dropping support quoting RHEL licensing issues and discontinuation of CentOS, why did the package disappear from CentOS repositories?
Maybe it requires some more investigation.
In Buildbot it works so far, the package gets installed from epel.
