When attempting to install MariaDB-server-10.9.7-1.el7.centos.x86_64 via YUM on CentOS 7 I get the following error:

The installation issue should only affect CentOS 7 (and maybe old SLES), as for newer versions the dependency works as a recommendation, not as a requirement; but still, if the support is dropped and the package isn't provided, it doesn't make much sense to even recommend it, and certainly not require it. It is unclear however whether they are going to support RockyLinux and Alma. And also, if they are dropping support quoting RHEL licensing issues and discontinuation of CentOS, why did the package disappear from CentOS repositories? |
