Description
I'm writing to request that the MariaDB project consider replacing its current master/slave naming scheme with the more widely accepted source/replica terminology.
The use of the terms "master" and "slave" to describe database servers is outdated and inappropriate, as it perpetuates harmful language and connotations of slavery. The vast majority of database software has already adopted the use of the terms "source" and "replica" to describe the relationship between database servers, and we believe it is time for MariaDB to follow suit.
This change would not only be a more inclusive and respectful way to refer to these servers, but it would also bring MariaDB in line with industry standards and make it easier for users familiar with other database software to understand and work with MariaDB.
If this request is already being worked on, please close this issue with the reference to the issue that already tracks this effort. Thank you
I know MariaDB has already done a lot of effort into renaming most of its functions, however, there are a few that were left behind.
