Description
Starting with a fresh install of Windows XP the installation of the ODBC-Connector (2.0.10 GA) fails with the following message:
"Error installing ODBC driver: MariaDB ODBC 1.0 driver, ODBC error 13: Could not load the setup or translator library. Verify that the file MariaDB ODBC 1.0 Driver exists and that you can access it."
The same message occurrs when first installing "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable" or 2010 or 1013.
Installing the ODBC-Connector on a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1 runs successfully, even without Visual C++ 20xx runtime.
What preconditions need to be met for successfully installing the ODBC-Connector on Windows XP or is the described behaviour a bug?
Sidenote:
The current MySQL-ODBC-Connector (v5.3.6) works on both operating systems without any problems but needs "Visual C++ 2013 runtime" installed.

Hmmm... I think de-facto we do not support Windows XP, sorry for that. I overlooked the fact that it would not work on XP any more. And really we do not even have where to get it. It's not supported by its vendor iirc for ~2years. We will update product page. Sorry one more time.
Actually https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/deprecation-policy/ says that WIndows XP deprecated since last April. So this is official, it just wasn't emphasized in regard to the last release.
I guess you can build own connector from source, and it should work. Locally I build using VS2010, you can try for example this connector dll https://jira.mariadb.org/secure/attachment/42051/maodbc.dll - I build it for other reporter for testing purposes.
But I can't accept the bug - we won't fix it. Sorry
