cannot install mariadb on ubuntu 16.04

how can I install mariaDb in ubuntu?
I checked the INSTALL_BINARY in mariadb-10.3.7.tar.gz, do these:
shell> groupadd mysql
shell> useradd -g mysql mysql
shell> cd /usr/local
shell> gunzip < /path/to/mysql-VERSION-OS.tar.gz | tar xvf -
shell> ln -s full-path-to-mysql-VERSION-OS mysql
shell> cd mysql
shell> chown -R mysql .
shell> chgrp -R mysql .
shell> scripts/mysql_install_db --user=mysql

but can not do this : shell> scripts/mysql_install_db --user=mysql

if I cd scripts directory and do mysql_install_db.sh --user=mysql,

got those error:
