Audit Plugin Doesn't Output Table Events on MySQL 5.7

I downloaded version 1.4.0 of the audit plugin from here and attempted to use it on MySQL v5.7.18. It will log query and connect events properly, but no table events. I swapped my test vm over to MariaDB 10.2 and it logs the table events properly. I tried the server_audit.so from the 10.2 installation and got the same result – no table events.

MySQL 5.7 is listed as supported here, so I am assuming this should work.

Any insight on this issue would be appreciated.
