Q1/2026 Server Maintenance
Description
When I try to use MariaDB's apt repository to install MariaDB 11.8.5, apt fails to install due to an unmet dependency issue with the version requirement for libaio1 (>= 0.3.93).
My understanding is that libaio1 was superseded by libaio1t64 as below...
libaio1t64/stable,now 0.3.113-8+b1.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mariadb-server-core : Depends: libaio1 (>= 0.3.93) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
E: The following information from --solver 3.0 may provide additional context:
Unable to satisfy dependencies. Reached two conflicting decisions:
1. mariadb-server-core:arm64=1:11.8.5+maria~deb12 is selected for install because:
1. mariadb-server:arm64=1:11.8.5+maria~deb12 is selected for install
2. mariadb-server:arm64=1:11.8.5+maria~deb12 Depends mariadb-server-core (>= 1:11.8.5+maria~deb12)
2. mariadb-server-core:arm64=1:11.8.5+maria~deb12 Depends libaio1 (>= 0.3.93)
but none of the choices are installable:
[no choices]
note: the "held broken packages" is due to my use of apt pinning to set the version to 11.8.5. Without this, APT installs the debian-supplied MariaDB packages.
