Hi danblack,
patches in https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/2527 look fine.

I only suggest to add MTR tests into https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/2527/commits/e75e3208daab3da7c11595bb19766f96f50d7de8

into mysql-test/suite/sys_vars/t/lc_time_names_basic.test

See other locales as examples.
