Hi Support,

Recently, we have opened a support ticket regarding an issue between java connector and maxscale proxy. https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MXS-3169.
Your proposed solution was to use mariadb connector/J instead of mysql connector for maxscale 2.5 connection.
However, mariadb driver is not supported by our product wso2, so, we would like to know if it is possible to use mysql driver for maxscale 2.5 or is there any configuration we need to change in order to get the connectivity working through mascale db proxy.

Which authentication plugin does the connector use? MaxScale does not support the default MySQL 8.0 authentication.

For the sake of clarification, this is not the MariaDB support portal for MaxScale: the Jira is the open bug database for all MariaDB products. If you are looking for the MariaDB support, I recommend reaching out to your contact at MariaDB or by emailing any of the addresses found at mariadb.com.

Hi Markus,

To identify the probable cause of the problem, we did a series of tests:

  • mysql-connector-java-8.0.21.jar to maxscale 2.3, OK
  • mysql-connector-java-6.0.5 to maxscale 2.5, NOK
  • mysql-connector-java-8.0.21.jar to maxscale 2.5, NOK

I guess, the issue concerns only the latest version of maxscale 2.5

This doesn't seem to be a bug report. Please open a new issue with a description of the actual problem. Also make sure that it still happens with the latest 2.5 release, we've made some fixes that should help solve some problems with certain connectors.
