The syntax used is not how one uses the command:

dbfwfilter::rules/reload

Thanks Markus, it seems it's working this way:

[root@mxs01 ~]# maxadmin show filters
 
Filter 0x16f88a0 (DBFirewall)
 
	Module:      dbfwfilter
 
Firewall Filter
 
Rule, Type, Times Matched
 
_limit, THROTTLE, 0
 
_no_where, CLAUSE, 0
 
_delete, REGEX, 0

[root@mxs01 ~]# maxadmin call command dbfwfilter rules/reload DBFirewall /var/lib/maxscale/rules.fw

And the log (/var/log/maxscale/maxscale.log) will show the below event:

2018-09-13 15:14:01.415   notice : (32) [dbfwfilter] (do_reload_rules): Reloaded rules from: /var/lib/maxscale/rules.fw
