The documentation on https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/mariadb-audit-plugin/ mentions the audit plugin does not work on MySQL 5.7. It refers to Assuming it is compatible again: Please change the documentation so it states 5.7 is now supported. |

5.5.48 has not been released yet, I will get clarity on which 10.1 and 10.0 releases the fix applies to and update accordingly. |
