 Description   

SELECT ST_LENGTH(ST_GEOMCOLLFROMTEXT('GEOMETRYCOLLECTION(
LINESTRING(1 0, 4 1),
LINESTRING(8 1, 4 1))'));

returns NULL even though if GEOMETRYCOLLECTION was replaced with a MULTILINESTRING, an integer is returned.
