I am filing this mainly for completeness with regards to MDEV-29582 (451f63c7), but to be honest I am not sure I would say that the deprecation message is appropriate (hence the ? in the Summary). Namely, mysql_config is not symlinked to mariadb-config, and the executables do appear to have different outputs, so functionally they appear to be different. Perhaps this ticket would be better resolved with more detailed messaging with regards to removing MySQL names, especially considering I cannot find articles about either executable on the Knowledge Base.
