SELECT ST_CROSSES( GEOMETRYFROMTEXT(' POLYGON( (3 5, 2 4, 2 5, 3 5) ) ') , POLYGONFROMTEXT(' POLYGON((2 4,3 4,3 5,2 5,2 4)) '));

returns false in PostGis;

true in MySQL
