I reported details of this bug at MySQL in June 2011, here:

It was fixed in MySQL 5.5.x. I recently installed 5.5.24-MariaDB and the bug re-appeared.

Hi,

From the notes I see in http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=45670, it was only fixed in MySQL 5.5.25, so you need MariaDB 5.5.25 to have the bugfix.
MariaDB 5.5.25 has been already released, could you please try to upgrade and see if it works for you?

Ok, I've upgrade to MariaDB 5.5.25, but now a new bug has been introduced, causing a hard MariaDB server crash. I'll open up a new ticket.

This new 5.5.25 crash is from MySQL, not MariaDB.

I'm not sure, but I can't really test until this new 5.5.25 bug is fixed. I'll let you know.
