This needs tests to show that the feature actually works, and it's not just partitioning pretending that it does.
Tests for some other storage engine too, not only for spider.

For anyone who picks this up, on top of Kentoku's commits there was this draft PR created which is now closed, but the content may still be useful: https://github.com/MariaDB/server/pull/1634

I suspect whoever works on this can use both.
