 Description

on Fedora you see these warnings for at least a year now, pointed out on the mailing list long ago

do you wait until it fails after one of the next cmake updates?

The cmake-policies(7) manual explains that the OLD behaviors of all
policies are deprecated and that a policy should be set to OLD only under
specific short-term circumstances. Projects should be ported to the NEW
behavior and not rely on setting a policy to OLD.

We've fixed them in 10.3. For the then-current cmake version. Now there's a new cmake version out with new warnings and we'll fix them too.

As for 10.2 and earlier versions — these warnings are harmless, they say that eventually new cmake versions will break the build. But seeing how many distros still have cmake 2.8, Maria 10.2 will reach EOL before that happens.

cmake-3.11.2-1.fc28.x86_64 - Fedora 28 will be EOL soon
Fedora 29: cmake-3.14.0-1.fc29

as said, these warnings are here for at least a full year and i have other things to do than jump on MariaDB 10.3 for the next months
