  • InnoDB: Uses buffer_pool::mutex and ++/-- mostly but on buf_page_io_complete atomic operations
  • XtraDB: Uses block mutex and atomic operations.

This was fixed as part of MDEV-17441 in MariaDB Server 10.4.2.
