 Description   

MariaDB performs poorly on Intel hardware with many hardware threads, i.e. the EC2 instance of the X1 type (4 NUMA domains, 64 cores, 128 hyper threads).
The symptoms are poor throughput in i.e. OLTP read-only benchmark and high cpu time spent in the "system" state.
