Where exactly do you get the sources to build?

Please

  • shutdown the server;
  • start the server with the same options plus --general-log --general-log-file=<writable location of your choice>;
  • try to connect as before;
  • after you've got the failure, please collect and attach
    • the generated general log from <writable location of your choice>;
    • /usr/local/mysql/error.log;
    • /usr/local/mysql/my.cnf.

Sorry, very strange issue. Disappeared after reboot.
