Yes, we stopped supporting XP recently. The OS is not supported by its Microsoft anymore. for the last 2+ years. In https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/deprecation-policy/ , we state that we do not intend to support OSes abandoned by vendors. I updated MSI installers so in the next version MSI will give a better informational message and quit without installing anything on XP |

We do not know. There is no XP that we could legally obtain anymore to try out whether we could compile anything that works on XP |

unfortunately I do not know how to compile but just install an ISO image of XP with VMWare or VirtualBox |
