 Description

There is no KB documentation of "meaning" of packages and changes done between versions?
Like what is difference between compat package found in every version and [server,client]-compat found in 11.0 (or maybe before), when is introduced and why?
Are there any differences between package common between versions?
We can guess the answers, but having overview of documentation would allow quick scan.
I suggest a page having a table of OSes and packages, versions when is introduced and some notes about.
Example of packages when mariadb-server 10.3 is installed

MariaDB-common-10.3.38-1.el7.centos.x86_64
MariaDB-client-10.3.38-1.el7.centos.x86_64
MariaDB-compat-10.3.38-1.el7.centos.x86_64
MariaDB-server-10.3.38-1.el7.centos.x86_64

Example of packages when mariadb-server 11.0 is installed

MariaDB-common-11.0.1-1.el7.centos.x86_64
MariaDB-client-compat-11.0.1-1.el7.centos.noarch
MariaDB-server-compat-11.0.1-1.el7.centos.noarch
MariaDB-compat-11.0.1-1.el7.centos.x86_64
MariaDB-client-11.0.1-1.el7.centos.x86_64
MariaDB-server-11.0.1-1.el7.centos.x86_64

Compat are mainly for MySQL compability. There is one PR for this #2582 which little bit extends why compat packages are available.
Otherwise do you mean to have README.md style package or Debian changelog in upstream package also?

Ask Anel what kind of documentation

Having documented on KB would be enough IMHO. Updated description.

Here is a list of RPM available packages https://mariadb.com/kb/en/about-the-mariadb-rpm-files/ for 10.2 and 10.4.
Do we need update for 10.4+ for rpm?
I think similar we need for Debian/Ubuntu package list illuusio.
