I would like to select a mirror and have this remembered by the site, rather than having to re-choose it every time. The nearest mirror may not be the fastest in all cases, and in my case, the automatically selected mirror is both slow and not the closest.

The logic should be:

• if a mirror has been previously selected, use that
• if that mirror is no longer active, of if no mirror is found to have been previously selected, choose the geographically closest
