[MCOL-661] Perl DBD mysql still required for install Created: 2017-04-11  Updated: 2017-05-08  Resolved: 2017-05-08

Component/s: Documentation
Affects Version/s: None
Fix Version/s: Icebox

Type: Bug Priority: Major

Environment:

Centos 7; all prerequisite packages installed.

 Description

Release notes for 1.0.8 columnstore indicate that Perl DBD mysql is not longer needed (MCOL-609). RPM install fails with the following

{{error: Failed dependencies:
perl(DBD::mysql) is needed by mariadb-columnstore-storage-engine-1.0.8-1.x86_64}}

Manually installing the perl package allows the rpm to complete. This should not be necessary.

I also ran into this issue for 1.0.8 and we talked about it briefly.

Could you add a link to the documentation for easy reference

Actually good catch, this was updated in the readme.md for 1.0.9 but not the kb articles, should now be here: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/preparing-for-columnstore-installation/#package-dependencies

The release notes for 1.0.8 still say that perl-DBD-mysql is not needed and references MCOL-609.
