It is there in the first section Its documented with the example of 1.1.6-1 and not 1.2.1-alpha, but if showed 1.2.1-alpha in the document, then the document would need to be updated when 1.2.1-alpha goes away. So I thinjk its good as it is.. NOTE: Document shows installing the latest GA version of each package by using 'latest' in the download paths. You can also install other version by entering the specific release ID, like 1.1.6-1.

on the boost comment, this is during the preparation and setup before we know how the customer is going to install the Columnstore Packages. So its needed if the install the rpm/deb/binary packages. So it might not be needed when they do 'apt-get install', but need to keep in for other types. Thanks for the input..

My problem was how to find the proper tag name, like 1.2.0-alpha. The repo looks confusing now as it also has 1.2.0 and 1.2 tags that are not documented.

Ok, I see what you are saying... I guess we announced it was a MCS 1.2.0-alpha release, so the assumption is a user would know to change 'latest' to '1.2.0-alpha'. Thanks for the input. Will think on this some more. Maybe the repo document should have provided specific release version that a user can download and we would have added 1.2.0-alpha into that list.
