The documentation here:

and any installation documentation needs to reflect apt-get repo addition
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:opencontrail/ppa

otherwise the apt-get install fails

It worked fine after doing this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:opencontrail/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
– finally –
sudo apt-get install mariadb-columnstore*
