    Description

      I started my MariaDB 10.4.8 server as so

      /qa/sw/mariadb/10.4/bin/mysqld --basedir=/opt/krobix/qa/bchin_oakey/mysql/goldDB-10-1570164683 --sql-mode= --sync-binlog=0 --slave-net-timeout=3600 --secure-file-priv= --datadir /opt/krobix/qa/bchin_oakey/mysql/goldDB-10-1570164683/data --port=60477 --max_connect_errors=999999 --server-id=60477 --user=mysql --skip-grant-tables --default-storage-engine=innodb --character-set-server=utf8 --socket /opt/krobix/qa/bchin_oakey/mysql/goldDB-10-1570164683/mysql.sock --innodb_lock_wait_timeout=300 --verbose

      I connected to the server with the following command:

      [root@oak013blue ~]# which mysql
      /usr/bin/mysql
      [root@oak013blue ~]# mysql --version
      mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 5.5.60-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64) using readline 5.1
      [root@oak013blue ~]# mysql -u root -h 127.0.0.1 -P 60477

      MariaDB [(none)]> SET GLOBAL `replicate_do_db` = DEFAULT;
      ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query
      MariaDB [(none)]> Bye

      here is the trace + other info:

      Server version: 10.4.8-MariaDB

      max_used_connections=1
      max_threads=153

      It is possible that mysqld could use up to
      key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 467735 K bytes of memory
      Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

      Trying to get some variables.
      Some pointers may be invalid and cause the dump to abort.
      Query (0x7f0e08012c70): is an invalid pointer
      Connection ID (thread ID): 12
      Status: NOT_KILLED

      The manual page at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/crashing.html contains
      information that should help you find out what is causing the crash.

      We think the query pointer is invalid, but we will try to print it anyway.
